Manager Retires

Carol Meindl has retired after devoting more than five years of service to the Eurobodalla community as Manager of Meals on Wheels.

On Friday 29 September Carol passed the Managers key to her successor Alan Russell.

Earlier in the month the volunteers from the three centres gathered at Moruya Jockey Club for their annual luncheon. The Board, the cooperatives members and volunteers acknowledged the devotion and commitment shown by Carol.

Carol commented that she had enjoyed every minute of her time. “It is a special organisation. It was the first time I had worked directly with a Board. That was an interesting experience but the commitment of these people has been amazing”.

“The volunteers are the cornerstone of this organisation and I wish to thank everyone of them for what they have done,” Carol also stated.

Carol plans for the future starting with time overseas and when back volunteering through a range of groups in Narooma. “I will also be assisting meals on Wheels as a support person at the Narooma centre,” she said.

Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels holds its Annual General Meeting in Narooma later in the month. Members will elect new members to the Board and it is exciting that nominations have been received from outstanding local people.

“The Cooperative is as strong as its volunteers”, said Ms Meindl. “So please encourage your friends to join with you to assist the older people in our community. And if you know people who require the services we offer, please ask them to be in touch. The organisation is more than a meal.”
